With this film we have tried to give a taste of what it was like for me, flying with birds on one of the great migrations- the incredible sights, the people I met, and all the ways we managed to turn things around for a species.
With a rip-roaring story that every person I landed near wanted to hear and be part of, and with extreme empathy as my secret weapon (assuming people would help if we asked and framed the swan story in the right way) we found a way of bringing many different people together around a conservation challenge rather than picking a lot of fights.
As a result of the success of this project I was made UN ambassador for the Convention on Migratory Species, and founded Conservation Without Borders to apply everything we had learned to other regions of the world and with other people, so they could amplify their impact.
There are other sides of this story not included in the film - including the behind the scenes tales of how James Bond and Judi Dench made it all possible - and many lessons learned in resilience, leadership, change etc which I’m keen to share with companies and organisations sharing our vision of human life within planetary boundaries and surrounded by the joy and wonder of abundant nature, including the epic sights and sounds of thousands of birds passing over on their great migrations…

“The idea of following Bewick Swans on their 7000km migration whilst solo in a paramotor across 11 countries is, for 99.99% of people, an idea that wouldn’t get off the ground.
Sacha however is part of the 0.1% who believes in the impossible.
Nothing can prepare you for the unreserved care, commitment and downright tenacity that Sacha gives to highlight the Bewick Swan’s perilous migration across Europe.
This is conservation storytelling at it’s most innovative and daring”.
